Working in association with HOK, the design team was hired by the City of Los Angeles to lead the development of this “Type I” local jail facility used for the holding of persons for 96 hours or less. The detention center is co-located with the Police Administration Building, Motor Transport Division/Motor Pool, Child Care Center, Occupational Health and Services Division, and Public Parking – and as such, required special safety and logistical considerations that were incorporated into our “Campus Setting Design” master plan.

The project adheres to strict city and state requirements for correctional facilities that fulfill rigid functional and budgetary requirements, with a key emphasis on hierarchy of access, surveillance and security controls to ensure a safe and successful environment.
